BERTRAND
JOHNSTON

TODAY.
TOMORROW.

The city wants to use Bertrand Drive as a proof of concept for future projects (Johnston Street)

Let's learn from the University Avenue mistakes - before it's too late.

Help us protect mobility, access, and local businesses.

Our Mission

To support a safer, more accessible, and more beautiful Bertrand Drive by preserving efficient vehicular access while adding a 12-foot shared-use path for cyclists and pedestrians.

As the businesses, residents, and property owners who have called this corridor home for decades, we believe safety, mobility, and beautification can be achieved without sacrificing the existing turn lane, restricting customer access, or imposing zoning changes that undermine the long-term viability and value of established businesses.

We support improvements that enhance the corridor while protecting the neighbors, businesses, and jobs that have helped Bertrand Drive thrive for generations.

Reasons We Oppose The Current Proposal

We oppose the current Bertrand Drive proposal because we believe it prioritizes a costly road diet and restrictive zoning overlay at the expense of safety, accessibility, and economic vitality.

The plan removes the existing center turn lane, narrows vehicle travel lanes, adds significant pedestrian infrastructure beyond the proposed shared-use path, seizes private property, and introduces zoning changes that could negatively impact the long-term viability of established businesses that depend on safe and convenient vehicular access.

As residents, property owners, and business operators who have invested in this corridor for decades, we believe Bertrand Drive can be beautified and enhanced without reducing traffic safety, limiting customer access, or undermining the businesses and neighborhoods that make this corridor successful. We support a balanced alternative that improves pedestrian and bicycle connectivity while preserving safety, accessibility, property rights, and economic growth.
